Il colore del melograno (The Color of Pomegranates), La conferenza degli uccelli (The conference of the birds) and Ordan Karmir - Roberto Paci Dalò

For his intervention at Masseria Torre Coccaro, Roberto Paci Dalò decided to work  on the architectural structure of the ancient pigeon towers. By opening some split on the stone walls of the towers, drawing powerful light and shadows contrasts, he created spaces full of suggestive contemplative moods.

The title Il colore del melograno (The Color of Pomegranates) is from a film recorderd by Sergej Paradjanov on1968, devoted to the life of the Armenian poet Sayat Nova, who lived in the Eighteenth century, La conferenza degli uccelli (The conference of the birds) is inspired by the title of the book written on 1177 by the mystic Iranian poet Farid al-Din Attar, where it tells the trip of the soul through the metaphor of the flight of a bird.

Ordan Karmir
, the armenian word for the purplish-red pigment used for their fine textiles, is the title of the architectural, audio and video performance ideated by Roberto Paci Dalò for the opening of his two apulian installations: a large-scale video projection enveloping the entire fortified façade of  Masseria Torre Coccaro.

The everyday images of the place and  those of moving exotic  animals filmed at the Zoo of the nearby town, Fasano, had been overlapping and  melting on the XVII century building, while the sampled voice  of the turkish theologian and philosopher Boghos Levon Zekiyan reading armenian poems spread around, animating the night with its echoes, as well as the notes of the clarinet played live by Roberto Paci Dalò himselfs.

Ordan Karmir is a co-production of  Masseria Torre Coccaro and Giardini Pensili, in collaboration with Zoosafari /Fasano.
