SÃœD - Loredana Di Lillo

The traces of the passage at the Masseria Torre Maizza by Loredana Di Lillo, Apulian artist adopted by Milan, is the site specific work titled SÜD (translation of the word "South" by the German one), outcome of the first residency project of LevelOne by Cardi Black Box . The work is the creation of a mobile settlement which becomes sedentary and acts as platform of the free thought with which is possible to interact, a kind of box of ideas, space of reflection, action and future intervention for artists and anyone who wants to be part of.
The artist retrace her personal experience, made by constant comings and goings between North and South, and at the same time the experience of many people.
SÜD lead us to reflect on the historical experience of the emigration - which obliged many people to live far away from their families - on the matter of the femail emancipation on the freedom, on the limits and on the efforts that characterize the historical memory of these people, connected to a social farmer context, unique and closed mind.

Loredana Di Lillo births in Gioia del Colle, lives and works in Milan.
Loredana Di Lillo writes through the images the information that all of us have stored and saved in the western history.
Her one is a methodic reading that stimulates a reflection on the sense of saving and trasmission of the memory, on the surviving of the universal consumption in our fast time, of the daily changing of symbols, metaphors, meanings and discoursive formations. Her topics come from the history, the litterature and the visual arts, and focuse on the matters of the chance, the desire, the fragility.
All aspects that refers to the need of a redefinition of the reality and the human condition, its conflicts, its paradoxes, its opacities.
By using the collage, founded photographs, biografies, and manipulating stories of others, the works of Loredana Di Lillo stimulate a dialectic approach on the historical heritage, underline its double nature of facts definitively passed, of images crystallized images, of events tha modify our perception of the present.
